PRESENTING OUR SPRING SUMMER 16/17 COLLECTION - 'A LUSH TROPICAL EMBRACE'

Friday, November 25, 2016

Tropical nature in all its decadence has inspired an all-new palette of colourful, tactile finishes, designed and curated by Something Beginning With. Exclusive to SBW's Australian designed collection of furniture, the collection's vibrant spectrum of colour and material options references the lush, green tropical landscapes of the Ubud rainforest in Bali.

The collection comes to life through vivacious botanical hues of greens, sharp lemon yellow and blues, offset against blush pinks, fiery reds and earthy tones. Upholstery is expressed through the bold graphics of Kvadrat textiles designed by the likes of fashion luminary Raf Simons and Dutch design studio Scholten & Baijings. And, for the first time, the introduction of tactile timber finishes in coloured stains, to create a lively interplay with powder coated metals.

Debuted at Melbourne’s Heidi Museum of Modern Art, the collection is available across SBW's Oscar clan, Otto table range and the all-new Ari Day Bed. For its Australian launch, the Ari Bed has been upholstered in Kvadrat Reflex by Raf Simons, creating an electric interpretation of this simple, streamlined design.

Considered one of Victoria’s most important cultural destinations, Heidi offers a breathtaking backdrop to the clean lines, archetypal forms and expressive material palette of SBW’s new collection. "Heidi is rich in social and artistic history – the perfect location for the collection's lush tropical vibes to interface with Heidi's simple, modernist forms and the surrounding natural environment" – the team at SBW.
